With tender awkwardness<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How young he looked out of a suit<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could see <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His hands<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His feet in particular<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And thought<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You were once a child <\/p>\n\n\n\n
What were you like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did you throw stones through the windows of old ruins?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And feel the ecstasy <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the glass breaking<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in that sound<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Feel as if another part of you had just broken open<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did you build a den in the woods?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your own wild kingdom<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A place where your imagination could breathe and be itself<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did you hold your own hand in the dark when you were frightened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did you kill an animal? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
What did you dream of?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did that place in you<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That place only you know<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But no one else knows<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hidden from the world <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That place<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just behind the heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the dark red cave of warm flesh<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did you feel a piercing love reach you there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just there<\/p>\n\n\n\n
